Revolutionary Insect Repellent

Mozzie Armor is developing a revolutionary insect repellent technology which will provide a new standard of personal protection against dangerous and often fatal infections spread by biting mosquitoes, flies, ticks and other pests. The technology is a novel, non-toxic, bio-pesticide developed from a potent repellent molecule found in the Texas torchwood bush, native to South Texas and Mexico. This repellent protects against the Zika carrying mosquito, Aedes aegypti, three times longer than N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET). It has also proven effective against DEETand permethrin resistant mosquito species.

This year, a major step forward was taken with the signing of a Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the United States Department of Agriculture for the exclusive development and commercialization by Mozzie Armor of novel compounds patented by the USDA. This non-toxic technology will be the basis for repellent formulations which are safe, effective, odorless, non-greasy and non-plasticizing. This technology can replace DEET as the gold standard of insect repellents.

Our work is focused on solving the challenges of creating long lasting anti-bite formulations for skin and clothing, producing the active molecule at manufacturing scale, and registration of the active repellent and formulation with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The domestic and international markets for this technology include outdoor enthusiasts and workers, pregnant women, international travelers and the military.
